Alicudi is the westernmost of the eight islands that make up the Aeolian Islands group, a volcanic island chain north of Sicily, Italy.
The island rises from the sea depths of 1,500 meters, and reaches a height of 675 meters at the mountain peak.
The residents of Alicudi live on the east facing slope, which declines less steeply into the Sea. The town of Alicudi is divided into five small fractions - the port on the south east side, Contrada Tonna to the west, San Bartolo with its church above Alicudi port, Contrada Pianicello and Contrada Sgurbio to the east.
