Nice easy trip (sea was quite flat) to and from France (Caen) from Portsmouth with good facilities on board, clean toilets and friendly staff. Food was very good and prices very reasonable. Slight delay returning to UK due to ship being delayed inbound to Caen due to weather. Delay was emailed to us before we arrived at the port so it did not come as a surprise.

Booking this ferry was the best thing we have done! The boat both to and from Caen was fabulous and clean. Food was great and along with drinks was all sensibly priced. Kids were entertained. No hold ups like Calais are currently experiencing. Dog was perfectly happy in the car and we saved on kennel fees! Will use this company again.

"Trips to/from Caen 17/21 August"
Organised, Calm, efficient. If I could ask for more it would be to be given the choice of recliner section because I was twice in the front compartment with active, noisy (normal) children and parents whilst the side rooms seemed havens of peace. Just a thought.

"The start of the holiday!"
We always use this crossing (1445) and get inexpensive overnight accommodation, just the other side of Caen, before continuing our journey the following day. We always 'make camp' near the cafe/children's entertainment etc and settle-in for the voyage. The on board catering is superb! We usually have our meal in the self-service restaurant - the food is consistently good and very reasonably priced considering the excellent quality. Our children go to the cinema - and we get to enjoy our meal....we do feed them, just seperately to us!! It's a win/win. The staff are always friendly, helpful and efficient - nothing is too much trouble. We see the ferry as the start of our holiday!

My partner and I travelled from Caen to Portsmouth last week, we had a 6 year old with us so we were a little apprehensive about a long ferry journey. We needn't have been, the transition at the terminal in France, the boarding and the disembarkation in England provided no challenge. The staff, food and entertainment were second to none and a surprise for us. So enjoyable was the experience we hardly noticed the time go by. Just the experience one needs after driving through France in the morning and on ward to London later that night. We would recommend the service to others and will certainly be repeating the journey again some time in the future. Many thanks to all the crew.

"Long crossing made bearable by good service"
I booked this crossing in replacement for a Dover-Calais one which could not be taken due to the recent industrial action. This route saved my some time on the road but the crossing was over 5 hours rather than 1 1/2. The ferry was well equipped with plenty of distractions to pass the time and the staff were attentive and helpful. There were lots of children on the boat who were, on the whole very well behaved, aided by the entertainment staff who kept them occupied for long parts of the crossing. Overall a very bearable journey.

"My crossing ftom Portsmouth to Caen"
Enjoyed the crossin immensely. Good, friendly staff English and French. Boarding with bicycle easy and French crew members courteous, given a card on how to locate my bike upon arrival, nice thought. Very clean ship, excellent meal in the restaurant (my best all holiday!). Would not hesitate using Brittany Ferries again.

"Our trip with direct ferries"
On the whole everything was OK. The comfort of a cabin was much appreciated. However the food in the restaurant was over priced and of very poor quality.

"good service shame about the prices"
I have always found the service very good, from leaving on time to the food, but the prices are too high i can fly to Australia for the same price as a return trip to France.

"Easy way to get to France"
It was the first time myself and my wife used this ferry service and we were very surprised how easy it was compared to flying. The boarding and unboarding was vey efficient. Recommend the French tarts from the cafe, they were the best we've ever had!

This was my first time using the Caen / Portsmouth route and I found it a very comfortable and convenient way to cross the Channel. I would certainly consider using this route again.
