Lampedusa Guide

Lampedusa is the largest island of the Italian Pelagie Islands and the most southern island of Italy, located in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, south of Sicily. Lampedusa has a population of 5,800 and is 12 km long, only 3 km wide.

Lampedusa is one of the most frequently visited islands of nature lovers. The island’s northern and western coasts are rather high and inaccessible, but its eastern and south-eastern shores boast some magnificent sandy beaches.

The clarity of the sea and the brilliant seafloor abundant with flora and fauna make Lampedusa a thrilling place for scuba divers and snorkelers, while the walking trails running up to the island’s three foremost peaks of Monte Rosso, Monte Nero and Monte Vulcano amaze the land lovers.

Be sure to visit the Rabbit Island which has one of the prettiest beaches in the entire Mediterranean, close to the south coast of Lampedusa.
