At more than 47,000 gross tonnes and 213 metres in length, the Spirit of France can carry more than 1,000 cars and up to 2,000 passengers. Spirit of France entered service a year later than her sister ship - Spirit of Britain, and with her shares the title of the largest ship to have been built for the Dover Strait.
Onboard you will find an international food court, bar and cafe, discounted shopping, a brasserie, games room, family lounge, bureau de change, free WiFi, an ATM machine, an exclusive club lounge and much more.
There are no cabins onboard the Spirit of France however seating is available in the club class lounge. Pre-book to enjoy a touch of luxury during your trip including a complimentary glass of champagne, tea, coffee, soft drinks and newspapers – all served by P&O Ferries friendly staff.
With a choice of bars and restaurants there really is something for everyone onboard the Spirit of France to suit all tastes and pockets. If you are travelling with the family then head to the Food Court, serving exciting cuisine from around the world - the place for a tasty curry as well as freshly prepared traditional British fare, like fish and chips! If you prefer to dine in style, why not try the Brasserie, with the highest quality food and wine served to your table.
The onboard coffee shops serve a selection of light snacks and pastries - plus a wide range of hot and cold drinks, including the famous Costa Coffee.
Check out the Bar for a fun and lively atmosphere and a perfect place to socialise whilst enjoying a drink. Those travelling with children may prefer the family lounge which features comfortable seating with a bar, light snacks, tea, coffee and soft drinks on offer.
In the summer months there’s also an alfresco bar.
There are some great bargains to be had in the Spirit of France shops with literally hundreds of products considerably cheaper than you can find anywhere in the UK. Not only will you find great savings of up to 40% off high street prices on selected fragrances, skincare and cosmetics, but you can also save up to 30% on wine, beer and spirits too. The onboard shop also stocks the latest in travel entertainment aimed at making your journey more comfortable, including the latest best-selling novels, toys and games for the whole family.
There's a variety of activities onboard for children including play areas and quieter spots for watching videos. During the summer holidays when many people take their family breaks, you will find children's entertainers onboard with specially trained staff to encourage creativity with some supervised painting or drawing, allowing parents time to sit and enjoy their own space.
If notified or requested staff will meet and assist customers with wheelchairs on the vehicle deck. All shopping, dining and seating areas on the Spirit of France are wheelchair friendly.

"Quick and efficient"
Everything works well:boarding, seating, announcements, disembarking. Everything clean and comfortable. Only complaint is that coffee is expensive and there are no croissants etc available at breakfast times.

"Boat booking review"
The trip was good but I never received the £20 restaurant voucher and had to insist by reception(on the ferry) to get it. They said I should have received it from Direct ferries and they are not supposed to give it. Otherwise pleasant boat ride. Staff friendly.

"A refreshing break from driving to allow personal refuelling for the next leg!"
Outbound and In bound journey for our French holiday in the mediterranean was on time and comfortable - good choice of decent food too. On the return journey in particular, it provided just the right length of break from driving that I needed (compared to the tunnel) to be able to continue on to Yorkshire refreshed and refuelled. I'm always in awe at how quickly and professionally the staff load and unload the vehicles.

"Club trip to France "
We for the first time upgraded to club. Started and ended our holiday off really well and was a completely different experience to all our previous ferry journeys. Will definitely do it again.

That was my first trip to Europe by ferry. I was boarded on a first available ferry, so I didn't have to wait for a booked one which is very convenient.

I was amazed that the trip from Calais to Dover operated so very smoothly given that the M20 was (sadly) one long parking lot full of lorries! Thank you

Just a quick one as everything went very well either end of the journey. The facilities were good and we enjoyed a breakfast both on our way to France and on the way back. Thank you.

"trip between france and england"
Since the chunnel would not give me a price on line, I chose the ferry, it was fine and a nice ride, easy to find on both ends

Had a good trip both ways - can't remember names of ferries. Clean, efficient. I had to return to car to collect my purse, was escorted down without any fuss. Very friendly staff. Did not use for meals so cannot say how they were.

"Very pleasant experience on board!"
Boarding arrangements & facilities on board were great! A little hiccup with the disabled access situation which required us to park next to the ship's lift, even though we mentioned this to 2 different P&O staff members before boarding.

"Dover to Calais"
No problems at Dover, despite striking French ferry workers on 3.7.15. Efficient loading. Problem is so many noisy unruly schoolchildren occupying every seating and deck area. Will probably use Dover to Dunkirk in future to avoid the hassle, since it is more 'civilised', Dunkirk is less prone to strikes & the ferries are of a decent quality

"much better experience in comparison to DFDS ferry crossing"
During my recent trip I decided to give a chance to P&O Ferries instead of DFDS that I usually take and I was amazed to find out that it was a much nicer experience that I previously thought it may be. In comparison P&O ferries are much newer, cleaner, more comfortable vessels and the whole journey through the channel is much more comfortable all together. As a result I am going to book another trip on my way back and actually I am looking forward to it.
